Your involvement in academics and community is exactly the reason you were invited to join our organization. We understand when you are busy with internships and advanced coursework since our membership is only open to upperclassman.
The following are strategies our members use to stay involved during busy times.
1. Get on the Listserv!
Any upcoming events will be announced over the listserv. You will only receive these informational emails if you are signed up for the listserv. You may find we are doing something on campus during a break in between your classes or on a Saturday morning.
2. Check the homepage periodically for updates on activities.
3. Don't go out of your way to fundraise.
The Society hosts a table in the University Center once a month when we have a fundraiser for the Society or charities. Stop by to see if you can pick up some fundraising materials. Ask your friends, neighbors and family you see everyday anyway if they want to buy your fundraiser items or spread the word for you so you do not have to stray from your normal routine to help fundraise.
Any amount of time you can volunteer to oversee a fundraising table helps. Members often stay and help for half an hour while they eat lunch. Stop by the faculty advisor's office in Faculty Center room 124 or email and officer if you need to make arrangements to pick up fundraising materials at another time.
4. Take advantage of the Society's come-and-go meeting format.
Meetings are only once a month for 30 minutes to an hour. You don't have to stay the whole time. Meetings are social, and studies have proven involvement in social organizations reduces stress.
